A Funny Rendition of '50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James

Holy shit this is soo funny guys! This is Ellen reading Fifty Shades of Gray the latest "It" Twilight inspired fan fic made into an actual book to hit the streets. I don't really care much about the book because I haven't read it, and because I think it's a little like cheating to make money by piggyback riding out of another's author's work and fame, but if the opportunity presents itself I shall read it and give my honest to god opinion on it putting my feeling weird aside.

This however is not a book talking about the attributes of Fifty Shades of Gray, instead I thought that we all might need a few laughs this fine Sunday. This video will do just that. Enjoy!

I love Ellen! She is so funny, her commercials on TV are my favorites, specially the one where she is fighting with ladies about the price of the products ("$5.99? So essentially $6.00?"). Have you read Fifty Shades of Grey? Would you recomend it? What do you think about the book? The video? Leave me a comment so we can discuss "it"!

Dark Days and Breathless Reads Free Chapters

Gosh I love the internet! Before you had to go to the library to take a taste out of a book in order to know if you were going to like it or not (or just plain buy it)... now you can just get it on the web.
Two of my favorite publishers, Penguin and Harper, both have "samplers" online of their future books. They are each about 3 chapters long, giving you plenty of time to figure out which books are going to be on your have to read list.

Review: Ghost Town (The Morganville Series #9) by Rachel Caine

Title: Ghost Town
Author: Rachel Caine
Series: Morganville Vampires
Book #: 9
Pages: 368
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: Photobucket
Goodreads Rating: 4.32
Published: Oct. 26, 2010

While developing a new system to maintain the town's defenses, genius student Claire Danvers discovers a way to use the vampires' powers to keep outsiders from spreading news of Morganville's "unique" situation.

But when people in town start forgetting who they are-including the vampires-Claire has to figure out how to pull the plug on her experiment before she forgets how to save herself...and Morganville.

Taschima's POV:

Reading The Morganville Vampires series is like watching a series of episodes from a poplar TV show. As always some episodes are more exciting than others, and while this one had the action and the high stakes I am still waiting for Morganville to tap again into the world changing elements that started on Lord of Misrule and lasted till Carpe Corpus. Ghost Town was still fun and enjoyable as an addition to the Morganville series, and seriously if you have read until book 9 then you will be happy with the developments.

This book served to patch up some of the issues the book precedent to it had left. Frank Collins is addressed, the missing barriers around town, etc. The way the whole issue was resolved left me with a little smile on my face, because it was so... Ironic and sort of perfect. I like how Claire has developed so much from the first book, where she was a victim, all up to this book where she is a leader. We also get interesting developments when it comes to Amelia, Oliver, and Myrnin. Oh Myrnin, be still my heart. The fans can keep Shane, and maybe even Michael (I would have to think about it) but there is just something about Myrnin's craziness and moments of clarity that pull at my heart strings (plus he is like hell-a smart, who doesn't love a genius?). But to be honest he fucked up this time around, big time, but I still forgive him. In his sinister crazy way, his mind sort of couldn't help what it did, not that it justifies him but it gives a bitter sweet sort of feeling to the situation.

I love how as a reader I am able to witness the small but potentially powerful changes that are occurring in Morganville, and I think this installment helps the reader, as well as the characters, to really take a moment and notice how much things have changed, and keep changing. I am a faithful reader and I believe that even though The Morganville Vampires may not be my favorite series it certainly is a must have on your shelf.

More Hot Covers! The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa

Are you ready?!

Expected publication: August 28th 2012
by Harlequin
"And, I'm also revealing the cover for the new anthology THE IRON LEGENDS, which will have the e-novellas Winter's Passage and Summer's Crossing, as well as a brand new novella called Iron's Prophecy.  It also has an expanded guide to the Nevernever and a chapter of THE LOST PRINCE."

As always I like the title, I like the details of the cover... I just don't like the models. That is not my Ash, or Puck, or Meghan really. I don't know, it's a weird photo. I think the one that looks the best and in character is Puck. He looks very Fae. Overall not my favorite cover, my least favorite I would have to say, but again it isn't horrible.

What do you think?

Also, for those who might have missed it, the cover for Ethan's story, The Iron Prince, cover was revealed recently, and here it is:

Ethan is certainly not a little boy anymore...

Waiting on Wednesday: Mystic City and Eve & Adam!

I have got some awesome books this week!

Expected publication: October 9th 2012
by Delacorte Press Books for Young Readers
A magical city divided.
A political rebellion ignited.
A love that was meant to last forever.
Aria Rose, youngest scion of one of Mystic City’s two ruling rival families, finds herself betrothed to Thomas Foster, the son of her parents’ sworn enemies. The union of the two will end the generations-long political feud—and unite all those living in the Aeries, the privileged upper reaches of the city, against the banished mystics who dwell below in the Depths.
But Aria doesn’t remember falling in love with Thomas; in fact, she wakes one day with huge gaps in her memory. And she can’t conceive why her parents would have agreed to unite with the Fosters in the first place.
Only when Aria meets Hunter, a gorgeous rebel mystic from the Depths, does she start to have glimmers of recollection—and to understand that he holds the key to unlocking her past. The choices she makes can save or doom the city—including herself.

Expected publication: October 2nd 2012
by Feiwel & Friends
Sixteen-year-old Evening Spiker lives an affluent life in San Francisco with her mother, EmmaRose, a successful geneticist and owner of Spiker Biotech. Sure, Evening misses her father who died mysteriously, but she’s never really questioned it. Much like how she’s never stopped to think how off it is that she’s never been sick. That is, until she’s struck by a car and is exposed to extensive injuries. Injuries that seem to be healing faster than physically possible.
While recuperating in Spiker Biotech’s lush facilities, she meets Solo Plissken, a very attractive, if off-putting boy her age who spent his life at Spiker Biotech. Like Evening, he’s never questioned anything... until now. Solo drops hints to Evening that something isn’t right, and Emma-Rose may be behind it. Evening puts this out of her mind and begins her summer internship project: To simulate the creation of the perfect boy. With the help of Solo, Evening uncovers secrets so big they could change the world completely.

I think I really like the idea of Mystic City (Magic, Politics, and Love, it doesn't get better than this), and Eve and Adam sounds interesting (Secret conspiracy? Count me in!). The Mystic City cover is pretty freaking awesome! The Eve and Adam cover looks pretty cool too, but I am always partial to the dark covers.

What Are you waiting for this Wednesday?
Which of these two books do you prefer?

Waiting on Wednesday is brought to us by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.

HOT YA Cover to Obsess over: The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

And its.... a little hard to see but you can see it all the same!! Guy on the cover! Hot bod in the cover! Oh gosh I can't believe that is little Ethan Chase in the cover (I am betting since the books are about him). My favorite part of the cover is, as always. the design and details on the borders, it connects all the covers together, and it connects the spin off with it's preceding series. The people who work on these covers should be very proud of themselves, spectacular job!
"Set several years after the events of the first, this trilogy will star an older Ethan Chase, Meghan's brother."
No full summary as of yet, but look how beautiful that cover is! Again guys I can't stress this enough Julie Kagawa is one of the authors to watch out for, she is truly amazing! Her Iron Fey Series and her Blood of Eden series are two of my favorites out there... and she always hits the jackpot when it comes to covers. Here is a recap of her cover history:

The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2)

The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3) The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4)

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)

Do you like the cover for The Lost Prince?

I swear as soon as an upfront version graces us with its presence I will be all over that!!

PS; I just wanted to let you all know as well that the giveaway fro The Immortal Rules is currently CLOSED! Winner will be announced tomorrow!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Breaking Movie News! New Director?

Image taken from Tumblr

So Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games, is getting a new director... might this spell disaster? I mean, think about it, the Harry Potter series was going along beautifully until BAM they got a new director for The Prisoner of Azkaban, after that it went in the crapper with some director's making the movies worth while while others... well, crapper.

According to the Hollywood Reporter the new director will be Francis Lawrence, here is some more informationj from their post:
"After a quick but fairly exhaustive search, Lionsgate has chosen Francis Lawrence has been offered the opportunity to direct the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

Sources say that Lawrence will receive an official offer this afternoon. If he accepts and a deal can be worked out, he will replace Gary Ross, who directed the first installment of the hugely successful franchise.

The hunt had been a fast and furious one, with the field narrowing down to Lawrence, the director of I Am Legend and Water for Elephants, and Bennett Miller, the director of the acclaimed Brad Pitt baseball movie Moneyball. Both directors met with the studio today, according to sources, and Lionsgate executives have made their pick."
No offense Lawrence, but I want Gary Ross back! He did such a good job with the first movie, and made so much money, that it's pretty hard to see why he would leave the franchise. Fear that thunder wont struck twice?

If you are going to get anyone to be the director just go ahead and call up Chris Columbus, he is such a good director. Did a freaking great job with the first two Harry Potter films so imagine him taking on this project... Sigh, a girl can certainly dream.

In other news there is ging to be a sequel to X-Men First Class!!! Quite possibly the best X-Men movie ever! How do I know? From the same article that announces Lawrence as front runner for the director position:
"The moviemakers are facing a ticking clock, especially since Lionsgate has set a Nov. 22, 2013, release date for Catching Fire, the second of four planned movies based on Suzanne Collins' trilogy of books. Also coming into play is that shooing for Fire likely needs to be done by early January so that star Jennifer Lawrence, who is not related to the Austria-born director, can begin shooting the sequel to X-Men: First Class in late January. Fox, which is making that movie, has an option on the actress that supersedes her Lionsgate commitment."
Two awesome movies are coming out next year. Can't wait!

What do you think about the change of director? Potentially good or potentially horrible?

The Vampire Diaries, Damon and Elena...

If you haven't been paying attention lately to Vampire Diaries season 3 I am here to warn you that this post contains some MAJOR SEXY SPOILERS! You've been warned...

HOLY SHIT! Finally! I have been waiting for this whole thing to go down for sooo long. In reality, Stefan and Elena? Too expected and just not fun. Damon and Elena? HOT HOT HOT! As Damon's vampire friend says in the show Damon challenges Elena, he surprises her, he makes her question her life and her believes. Al in all he makes the show something worth watching every single week. If I only had Stefan to fall back to I mean, I couldn't do it, he is so soul full and "oh I am a creature of darkness! T_T" and Damon is like "Hell yeah I'm a creature of darkness, and I'm gonna do everything in my power to keep you safe, even if I have to break a few necks in the process."

And then the sexy began...

They are dating in real life... Of course they are, sexy + sexy= something mind blowing.

Anyways, fans of Vampire Diaries everywhere, are you team Damon? Or are you still holding hope with Team Stefan? Who here is just Team Elena? I am team Damon, and damn proud of it.

I wonder how Stefan is going to take this in the next episode... I hope Elena doesn't become an overnight wimp and then be all like "oh it should have never happened!!! I am so ashamed blah blah blah" I bet she is going to be like that. Damn.

Bookish Question: What about Video Reviews?

So guys, what do you think about video reviews?
Video Reviews: When a person makes a video while talking about a book they have just read. Some like this option, some don't.
Why would it be cool- Well it would be something new to try out certainly. I could rant while making funny faces and hand gestures (you guys never get to see my hand gestures). It can be pretty kick ass.
Why could it potentially suck- Well, you would get to see my morning face, and that, most of the time anyways, is not a pretty sight. Curly hair everywhere and all. Additionally I don't have any video editing skills... I should learn a bit of that.
What do you guys think? I think video reviews could potentially be fun, sometime I shall try one. Someday... maybe. Afraid of the camera? Damn straight. I should get a camera... Anybody here ever done one?

A Temporary Hiatus which coincides with Finals Week.

I am actually studying my butt off in order to have fantastic grades, so people of the blogging universe listen to me. This week, and next week quite possibly, Bloody Bookaholic will not be posting so frequently seeming as I have to get As and well I need to concentrate on school books rather than entretainning books. Life is sad, and when you think it couldn't get any worse finals slap you in the face. As of right now I am reading Juliet Immortal, a book I will try to finish today in order to at least have a review in this week. Just to let you know, it's iffy. As in, I have no idea what to make of this book and I'm halfway through it. But nevertheless, I shall continue it and give you a full report.

More funny pictures!

These images, they are all true.

Movie News!! The Host, and Beautiful Creatures.

So number 1, The Host has a poster! I am trying to muster up some sort of excitement, but really I have no idea how they are going to pull this movie off without constant double sort of chatter going on. Have you guys read the book? I suppose I should re-read it again, read it a loong time ago, but I know that it is going to be hard to constantly show how Melanie's thoughts inside Wanderer and stuff. I really liked this novel, I thought it was pretty great, maybe even more than Twilight (I am a Twilight fan, just not a Twihard. Whatever that means). Anyways, awesome poster!

So they did the switcharoo with the Beautiful Creatures male protagonist! It seems like Jack O'Connell had scheduling conflicts that are keeping him from doing this role (big mistake buddy; don't you know where the money is these days?) so the person with the hardest to say and write last name on Earth is playing the role, Alden Ehrenreich. It seems he was on some Supernatural and some CSI episodes, but other than that he is a total mystery. There are 3 things that I am absolutely certain about:
  1. He doesn't seem right for the role. He seems old, experienced, and I don't think he will be able to capture the strong yet gentle soul that is Ethan Wate.
  2. Why, oh why did Jack had to go? He seemed a little closer to what I pictured, sure not perfect but at least he was a youngster.
  3. This movie makes me nervous.
Are you excited about Alden taking over Jack's role? Is he your Ethan? I know who my Ethan is...

Gosh, that guy could make any girl have dirty thoughts. Robbie, you're my Ethan!!

Ever had a Book Related Detention?

When I was in high school I had detention once and only once. I know a lot of people say this, but my teacher really did have it out for me! Girls all around me pull off 3 times the amount of crap that I did (I talked to my friends and occasionally read when my work was done, sue me) but alas I got the detention for refusing to move out of my chair that was close to my friends and sitting up front. Bitch.

Anyways, now that I see these kinds of detention I feel bad because if I was ever going to have detention I wish my detention slip would reflect the reader in me, like these detention slips reflect the readers (or movie watchers) in these kids:

The Hunger Games Detention:

For yelling 'That is mahogany!' when student dropped book on desk.
Harry Potter Detention:

Calling a teacher s "muggle"
And my favourite...

These detentions I found on this site.

Aren't these just hilarious? I saw them and I thought I should share with you guys immediately. Have you ever gotten a detention along these lines? Or gotten reprimanded for reading a book in class?

Book Teaser

Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he’s heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen—literally, ouch!—both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma’s gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom . . .

Told from both Emma and Galen’s points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humour, and waves of romance.

Taschima's POV:

I enjoyed Of Poseidon, and yet I wasn't swept off my feet by it. It is one of those books that you get to enjoy but it doesn't make it into your favourites because it seems like it doesn't have that extra "wow". That thing that just makes it phenomenal. But still, it can totally be that book that you read to have fun, to enjoy the characters, and to be teased till your head feels like it's going to fall of with the romance.

The characters of Emma and Galen really complement each other. She is the feisty girl who doesn't like to be ordered around, and Galen is the spoiled prince who has never been questioned. She helps him be less stuck up, and he helps her be aware of her heritage. At the end of the day though, my favourite character was Galen, because he had so much to put on the table. His interactions with all of the characters were interesting, and fun. I don't particularly swoon when he comes into the picture but I can see where many ladies would be short of breath when he comes into the picture.

Oh and the romance. So teasing, I swear! I needed that though, I needed a romance that kept me at the edge of my seat and screaming "kiss her already man!".

The extra characters - Rayna, Galen's sister, Toraf, Galen's best friend, Chloe, Emma's best friend, Rachel, Galen's pretend mother and ex mob... They all had their parts to play of course. Rayna is very strong headed, and Toraf is basically in love with her. Their story could have had a lot of potential, if it hadn't been resolved so quickly, and so unexpectedly. Given Rayna's character I thought she was going to really have Toraf had it when a particular incident occurred, but let's just say that how that particular thing went down didn't make me happy. Still, I expect to see more of them in the future, and maybe their whole thing can be solved.

The ending was a bit rushed and it felt like a couple of chapters could have been added. I felt robed really, because it was such a cliffhanger! It isn't like I wasn't expecting the ending, but the way it ended left us with all sorts of questions and no answers what so ever. It does build up for the second book, but really I wanted to read it now!

All in all, I say pick it up. It is fun! And enjoyable, and really isn't that what we are searching for when we read? Who knows, it may end up being one of your favourites, it just isn't one of mine. But maybe the second book...
